The origins of Premià de Dalt

Premià de Dalt seems to have its origins in the 5th century BC and takes its name from the Roman villa of Vila Primilia. Until the 13th century the village was known as Santa Anastasia, from then on it was known as San Pedro de Premiá. In the early 1980s the name was officially changed to Premià de Dalt.

The current town of Premiá de Dalt does not occupy all the territory that previously covered, previously the municipality reached the sea, but in 1836 its maritime district was segregated, forming what is now Premiá de Mar.

From the sixties Premiá de Dalt began to undergo the most important change in its history with the construction of summer residences, this construction continues today but no longer focused on summer houses but on residences for people who live in Premiá but work in Barcelona.

In the eighties, the construction of new houses began in the old agricultural land located between Can Figueres and Can Balet, the so-called “ensanche” of Premià de Dalt.
