THE HOUSE YOU HAVE ALWAYS DREAMED OF

MAGNIFICENT, COLONIAL-STYLE SEAFRONT LUXURY HOME

At HJAPÓN, we are proud on this occasion to be presenting a new DREAM HOME PROJECT in Maresme, close to downtown Barcelona. This is a project carried out by PILAR CAYUELA, and focuses on an exquisite colonial-style seafront villa near to El Masnou marina on the Mediterranean coastline.

Project description:

The aim of this sensational project has been to renovate a period manor home which faces, as its biggest challenge, to maintain its historical charm and essence. On this occasion we have succeeded in achieving this aim, conserving its intrinsic Indian-style charm and design whilst renovating the interiors to make it more contemporary.

This gorgeous high-end home is located in a fantastic location as well, situated on the seafront towards the exclusive El Masnou marina, and a short distance from Alella. Conscious of the fact that this is an unbeatable location, we have strived to match the high expectations with the house itself, designing it to maximize on function, design, and comfort.

Keeping in mind the aim of maintaining the original structure and not breaking from the colonial façade, we have replaced the original floor with an exquisite Wild Oak wooden laminate from Fin Floor that provides natural warmth in all rooms and ties the entire house together with a single material that has great resistance to water and humidity.

To accommodate for a new dining-room, we wanted to integrate into the kitchen area of the interior patio so as to expand the most crowded and busy section of the villa to space it all out more and create a better flow and sense of comfort. In order to also add more breadth and clarity to the kitchen, we have incorporated exclusive white lacquered furniture that is made to measure, along with Dekton countertops also in white, and latest-generation Siemens appliances.

Moreover we have opted for a solid natural wooden-top table, which gives greater warmth to the space, and Nordic-style chairs which provide greater comfort and functionality, all of these from Pilma.

We have also chosen hanging lights from Marset in an elegant and minimalist black tone, in keeping with the aluminum-lacquered external enclosures that help to integrate a modern material of high quality and functionality.

In the same way, we have reformed the look of the lounge using more light and cool colours to bring in more space and comfort, whilst also incorporating minimalist and subtle furniture to create an atmosphere of tranquility.

The bookcase is custom built with oak veneer and natural varnish. The three-seater sofas from Koo are upholstered in natural jute, and surround a central-table from Bontempi; the glass top has been designed to expand the surface according to the needs of the room. Lastly the set is completed with a beautiful, timeless carpet by Louis de Poortere.

Through all of these renovations and small improvements, we have succeeded in re-inventing the common space of this spectacular villa so as to take advantage of all the natural light that this home enjoys thanks to its incredible location.
